Chinatown decisions
Here is MIL in San Francisco's Chinatown, looking through the jam-packed shops that line Grant Avenue. (It hasn't changed in all the years I've known it.) MIL has a hard time making decisions at the best of times, and I think the sheer number of items on display defeated her. But she had a good time browsing anyway, as I did. I even had a "chop" made for me, a symbol carved into stone which is used as a stamp. I chose the Chinese symbol for "peace" and red ink.

Ah, Chinatown....love it! Haven't been to San Francisco's, but always loved Sydney's....especially the food. Oh, for a good Chinese feed.....one of life's great pleasures :)

What I said was:
I love your 4 essential food groups, very funny.
AND .. thank you for the Animal Behaviours link, great site - I am going to look for an audio for the scrub turkey video, it's a good chance they will have one..
It wasn't ONE of those and TWO of those, they were little purses, FIVE for $2!
Della, Lindsay has said that he and others might be having trouble commenting because I haven't switched to the new Blogger. I guess I'll have to do that soon.
Looks MIL had a great time at San Francisco's Chinatown!
She is adorable, she seems to be having a lot of fun!
Wow, I would have had a hard time deciding what I wanted too with all that stuff around! lol I'm still giggling at the second picture of your MIL in your previous post...maybe the irish whiskey in her coffee finally made itself known? lol Glad to hear that your son is doing well in California:-) Hugs xox
Never been to San Fransisco, but it looks like a wonderful place. Chinatown is interesting no matter what city you visit it in !!
Take care, and have a great weekend ... Meow
Hello Val, this looks like a kind of shopping trip I would love. Your MIL is a sweet looking lady and just loveing the irish coffee I am sure.
We had the day at fryerstown antique fair today and it was as expected busy! hot! dusty! and Soooooooooo! much fun. I met some regulars from Goolwa south aust. who know my mum as she lives there. and a pal from Ebay chat room and they were right next door to the others.
My daughter bought a fantastic old mixing bowl blue on outside and will go well with her other items.
I was looking for glasses and got just two but may get out there again yet before it ends.
Have a great day out there, and will chat again soon.

I can still remeber being a kid discovering all the cool little treasures in San Frans China town. I love it there too. Haven't been for a long time.
Someone told me Melbourne has a chinatown. Is it similar? I'd love to go.
Hi Val
Our China town does not seem nearly as crowded, a much smaller version no doubt.I was driving down Little Burke and China town the other day, it was congested and busy as usual.Their chinatown looks more like our Vic markets ?
The stamp sounds interesting; can you make an imprint of it on your books?
Best wishes
I would say that the San Francisco Chinatown is more like Melbourne's Little Vietnam in Victoria St Richmond, but is narrow like Little Bourke St and of course with no trams going through!
The chop/stamp was meant to be a signature for my books but I've forgotten to use it!
Hi Val.
Just popped in to say I hope you had a nice aussie day, your MIL looks like she is having a great time. Stay Well..
