You asked for it

Finally found the photo (where I'd been looking all the time). This was taken in about 1982, in the foyer of the Princess Theatre. I loved "frocking up" for the end of year ballet concerts, but even more than the costumes I really liked all the theatrical makeup.

By way of contrast, as a little kid I was a tomboy, and I still feel most comfortable in jeans.

If that gorgeoous ballerina is you, then who is that in your profile photo??....lol

That really is lovely (no, not the profile shot !!!). Do you miss the ballet? I know Dame Margot was in her 50s, maybe more, when she was still dancing.

How was your Greek evening?

This is a really lovely photo of you Val. You've certainly been from one extreme to the other....ballet costumes to hiking boots :) Thanks for another little glimpse into your interesting past.

Oh Val, how elegant, lovely head carriage.. and pointe shoes too! I'm annoyed, cos I can't find the photo of myself in tutu at end of year concert, your information retrieval is better than mine :o)

Val,
You look so poised and lovely! After your last post I was remembering my (very) short lived dancing days. Can't remember the ballet song, but I tap danced in the recital to "I'm a Brazen Little Raisin" Why that came back to me after fifty years heaven only knows!

You look so pretty in your tutu and very refined, I must add. I remember having tap shoes and making a lot of noise with them, but that is about the extent of my dancing career.HA

Greek dancing and ballet ....hmmm, sounds preferable to AFL, wouldn't you say?

What a pity you were not around for the parish Eltham Reviews, about that time. A group of good friends with me did a comedy routine as ballerinas -We accompanied a competent Ballerina performing Swan Lake. One of the Friends - 6’ 7” -Bob Heard ex Aussie Rules footballer

Wow, this post, and dare I say my photo, have stirred up all sorts of memories from the readers. I would have enjoyed that Swan Lake, Lindsay. Like Sue and AIP, I also did tap dancing when I was a child, and loved the noise the taps made. Tap dancing runs in the family: my mother tap danced with her class at the famous Paramount Theater in New York City in the 30s - it was before the film would start. In those days, you'd get to see 2 films AND a tap dance routine all for a dime!

It always interesting the things that blogs expose about someone. You looked stunning. I never would have peged you for a ballerina. Sweet.
