Today I went back to the Melbourne Museum to see a couple more exhibits, and couldn't resist the insect display, where they also have spiders in quarantine. There's even a tarantula webcam on that site. Click on it if you dare!
For a few years now I've been trying to get my husband (and sons when they still consented to come with us on country trips) to stop at the insectarium in Woodend. Nope, total lack of interest there.

I don't like spiders! Here in Brazil we have big spiders, too.
I have a big fear of them ....
But I fear snakes and bats, too!
Now there's one thing I DON'T miss about Australia! My father used to put them outside too...and they'd come right back in. My mother hated them! She didn't like my dad much either (after a while) :)
Wow! Now that's a spider! I enjoyed your photo. We don't grow them that big here, but if we did the mosquitos might not be so bad come summertime.
Wasn't my photo, John. I blogged Johnno's post using the Blog this button. Glad that spider wasn't in my house!
That has to be the biggest spider I have ever seen. Tasmania doesn't even have spiders that size. I am not a phobic but that is pretty horrid.
