Going offline for a while

Tomorrow my husband, MIL and I are off to San Francisco for a holiday. Tuesday, October 3rd is our 35th wedding anniversary, and we plan to go to the spot in the hills above Berkeley where we were married.

We are renting the bottom floor of one of those gorgeous Victorian houses (click on this link to see more photos and info) on a hill in San Francisco for two weeks. Hubby and MIL will return to Melbourne then but I will stay on for another 2 or 3 weeks. It will be a new experience, not having to be back by a certain date to go back to work. Oh, how I am enjoying being retired!

I don't know when I'll be posting again as I won't have much access to the internet, especially during the first two weeks of October, but do please visit my blog again in November. Hopefully though I'll be able to get in a post in the second half of October - we'll see.

Take care, everyone!

Dear Val ~ Congratulations on 35 years of marriage to both you and your husband. Have a wonderful time and enjoy every minute. We will be waiting for you when you get back. It's sort of like an end of the season trip !!
Take care my friend,Love, Merle.

Thanks for your good wishes, everyone.

And Merle, you've hit the nail on the head: we always schedule a holiday or at least a weekend away following the grand final because it takes a while to get used to a weekend without football. So from now on I'm going to call it our "end of season trip". And for non-Aussies, that's what they call the trip that most of the players go on after the season finishes. They go as whole teams, and from what I've heard, it can get pretty wild. We however will be quite sedate!

Oh Val, how romantic, going to the spot where you were married 35 years ago. Congratulations on your 35 years of marriage! Life is good when you're still together and in love after that many years :) We were married in 71 too (April), as you'll probably remember from my anniversary post.
Have a wonderful trip and come back with lots of good stories and photos for us :) We'll miss you!

Finally, after all these years, I will get to see/hear from Val in person! For those of you who don't know, I am one of her former students, and she is a special lady.

And 35 years ago, I was at her wedding, which was a 70s event. The bride had flowers in her hair, it was held in a park, and the groom didn't wear a tie! Frankly, I was worried she would leave us to go to Australia. However, she did finish out my senior year as my German teacher.
