Dad's on his way

Dad is winging his way up to Sydney as I type this. He'll stay there overnight before flying back to Hawaii tomorrow. As always it is a terrible wrench to say goodbye at the airport, but I'm hoping to be able to find some cheap airfares later in the year and visit him there.

It was very hot while he was here, and we didn't get to do as much as we might have, but still...
  • There was the obligatory visit to Williamstown Beach, which we love, and there was a nice breeze off the water that day.
  • We went to an aviation museum - Dad was a commercial pilot and has always been interested in planes. On that same trip we discovered a bayside beach which I'll return to when it's not so hot.
  • We visited the City Museum which has a wonderful exhibition about Melbourne beaches. The museum is in the old Treasury Building which has very thick walls, and it was a cool escape from the heat.
  • We did a couple of hikes in local bushland, both of which turned out to be longer than anticipated, as both of us like to do a loop and not retrace our steps and we sometimes lose our way. On yesterday's hike we retreated to the shade of a tree after climbing a hill with no shade. Here is a photo of us, but as Dad informed me a while back, he doesn't really like his photo on the internet, so I've made some changes to protect his privacy. heh heh!

Cats need to maintain their privacy too!

Glad you had a good visit. I know the time must fly by when he visits.
Hawaii sounds fun!!
We've had perfectly glorious weather here. It truly feels like spring. I took a picture of Mt. Diablo today and thought of you!!
It was so clear that we could see the snow on the Sierras from the Benicia bridge overlook. Amazing!
((hugs))

Good to hear you and your Dad had fun together. But did you have to choose a *clown* face for him? ;) Poor fella!

Hope it cools down for you soon.

Hello Val,
I know how sad you must've been saying goodbye to your dad.
He sure acts the clown :) He must be young at heart, 'cause he sure is fit!
And that's the weirdest looking cat I've ever seen! LOL
I love your sense of humour :)
Thanks for popping in for a visit!
xoxo

Hi Val ~~ Glad you had such a good visit with your Dad and hope you can get to Hawaii later in the year after
the footy season I would think. Just heard that Lance is Captain, glad he didn'y lose that chance.
We are having a week of 36C so it is
still hot here, and more humid than other years. I found the pendant.
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

I'm glad you all enjoyed my little joke. I've warned Dad that there's something special on my blog to look at when he gets back home. He expects the worst!

Here's what I did:
Open powerpoint.
Select and paste in a photo.
Select and paste in a graphic. This will need to be moved to the right spot, and reduced or enlarged to fit the required space. You can also tilt the graphic, as I did with the dog's head, by grabbing the green handle at the top of the graphic.
Drag the whole photo out so it covers as much of the slide as possible.
Now click on file and save as. Name the file and select JPEG file interchange format.
The silly photo is ready to use!

Just looking at your dad's photo... I'd guess you must take after your mother.

hahaha - very funny Val, good one!
or two I guess, if you count the cat...

Hey, Jetstar have announced they are starting international flights, that should make for some cheaper fares?

It must be very sad to be saying goodbye for now - our time with loved ones always seems so short I notice that more and more as time goes by, don't you?

My two cats rule the roost, so to speak. One cat, Boo Boo Kitty, wants to have his own "MySpace" site, but I am concerned about kitty porn on online predators.

Emily, the other cat, believes she is a member of the Russian Imperial Family, and insists on being addressed as "Your Imperial Highness".

As for having their pictures taken, I assume it would be okay. AFter all, they spend all day grooming themselves.
