Japanese Garden in San Francisco

Today I thought I'd see if I would run into the same difficulties as Alice has been having uploading and keeping photos on her blog.

So I've just selected a few photos from our trip to San Francisco last year, and thought I'd use Blog This from Picasa. Much to my delight I've found that it now uploads more than one at a time! The format isn't the greatest, they're all rather scrunched together, but I think this is better than using the "Hello" system which is a bit fiddly. (Don't ask!).

This photo was taken after the Man Who Cooks had dropped the camera on that very hard surface. He is looking suitably abashed.

Here we are on speaking terms again.

And below is us having tea in the tea house overlooking the gardens. Ah, I just noticed that 2 photos have been "lost"... Now for the Publish button!! Had to add the last two photos in via Blogger. Is there a 4 photo limit when you blog photos from Picasa?

One hour later...Hey guess what! The first 4 photos I uploaded via Picasa have disappeared, and only the ones I uploaded manually via Blogger are there. So now I have to upload them manually... Sheesh!

Hi Val, loading photos through blogger seems to work best, you should select the image size you want and whether you want them displayed on left, right or centre, provided the settings are the same for all photos selected you can load up to 5 at a time and then add more if desired.

Welcome to 'Frustration Land'. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that they will stay there when loaded with Blogger, either. I've had them disappear using both methods. Are you still able to use 'Hello'? It doesn't work for me at all as the message says that 'BloggerBot is dead', or some such. Yes, 'Blog This' through Picasa has a limit of 4, Blogger seems to have a limit of 5, although extras will at least load into the same posting, unlike Picasa now.

I'm finding it much harder to format the text these days. What looks right in 'Compose' mode, doesn't publish the same. Line spacing, etc. can be a real pain sometimes.

Sorry to be so negative, but I did like your photos.

Those were great photos of both the Japanese gardens and you two! As one of the few people who don't have a personal blog, the new blogger required me create a "google" account in order to post on this blog! However, the trouble you went through posting the photos was certainly worth it.

Lovely and photos. I love the Tea Gardens, but it's been several years since we've gone! (we don't always enjoy the things that are right in our own area!)
I load (can never remember if I upload or download) my photos one at a time. Usually they stay put..not always, because this is blogger after all!
We're still having freezing weather here today and a 4.4 earthquake on Thursday night. We felt it quite sharply!

Ooops that should say "lovely and familiar looking photos."

Hi Val,
I'm glad you fought the computer enough to post these; it really is a beautiful place.

For photos, I upload them one at a time while I paste text in between. That's the only way I've ever be able to get them on my blog. Also, there seems to be a size limit for a single picture and the photo title must be only one word... Actually, I have no idea how I get photos on my blog because what works one day, doesn't the next... But I'm glad you posted these.

I love these photos, Val. You and the Man Who Cooks look very happy!

Sorry you had problems publishing the photos... I have no advice as I am useless at anything IT-related!

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Great pics - made even better by the grief you went through to share them!!

Thanks so much for sending the book instructions, which I received the other day - am looking forward to starting a project soon after I come back from Vanuatu.

smashing pics of you both, and the gardens look very beautiful.

I'm impressed at your perserverance with the photo uploads!

I am keeping very quiet, as - normally - I can upload five images at a time. Admittedly it takes a while if they are large files, but as John says, I get on with inputting text while they load. *crosses fingers and hopes not to have tempted fate*

The 'other' Val is funny ("crosses fingers and hopes not to have tempted fate"). She always makes me smile :)
I didn't know you could load 5 images at a time with Blogger. I've tried that in the past (long ago) and it didn't work for me then. That's good to know. I'll be giving it a whirl!
Yesterday I replaced 6 photos, once again in my sledding post(some different from the first time, when I replaced even more. I hope the problem is fixed soon!
Your photos are so lovely Val, and I'm very glad you shared them. You and TMWC look very happy and relaxed. In such a beautiful setting, who wouldn't be? :)

What lovely photos ... it looks like a beautiful place.
"Hello" is apparently no longer operation, which is a shame, as I found it great.
Picasa's Blog This is a pain ... I tried posting a bunch of photos, it said it was OK, but nothing was there ... I gave up.
Now, I just use Blogger ... slow and steady wins the race (except which it chooses to duplicate the photo a gazillion times !!).
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Take care, Meow

What a great start for Carlton!

These were all beautiful photos; clarity is very good.

I think Picasso is worth the perserverance, you have to wait until the photos are posted to your blog, it will tell you !! so be patent.

I think it’s much easier than through Blogger or the previous hello format. However I am sure there is limit on the number of photos you can post in one operation. I also find trouble editing the text underneath

Best wishes

Great pictures Val and you look so cute in them.

I load pictures through google and haven't had any problems, but I have heard some complaints about loading with Picassa.
