Just to prove I'm in Hawaii

This was taken at a beachside restaurant where Dad and I had lunch today. Life is good.

I spent the morning at the zoo, and went back again after lunch. Even though it was Sunday, there were no crowds to contend with - everyone's at the beach. I saw flamingos for the first time since a trip to Florida in the 1950s. Such a beautiful color.

The galapagos tortoises were awesome. This one was quite lively, and HUGE.

The view from the zoo towards Diamond Head is great
- you can't see all the high rise hotels.

I was last at the Honolulu Zoo in 1976. I do remember the flamingo exhibit even then!!

What great shots, Val. I'm glad you're enjoying your time in Hawaii, you lucky dog, you.

Not that I'm jealous or anything. No, really. Not at all. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Thanks for the recommendation of the 'Camel Bookmobile' - our library has it and I just put it on reserve. Ah the joys of the internet ... I can reserve books without moving out of my chair.

Hawaii looks beautiful ... have a wonderful time!

Here in Florida this morning our flamingos are soggy from a passing tropical depression.

We all envy your trip to Hawaii.

Val! You're so lucky to live in Australia and have your father in Hawaii!!! How fun! Glad to hear from you and to see you too! Oh, I visited that website with the live camera, how nice to see the birds around the statue, not many people there though, I figure it must be early in the morning, hehe.

You lucky lady, you! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read Susie's post - we were at the Honolulu Zoo in 1976 too - and the only thing I remember about it are the flamingoes!!!

Gosh, what a huge tortoise! The real flamingos are so much prettier than the fake ones :)
