Grand opening!

...of Val's craft room! Come in and have a browse.

Since the return of Techie Son in June I've had to move all my craft stuff back into my study. This room had been well set up for when I was working when I needed a desk. But as a craft room it was useless. So I moved my desk out to the kitchen/family room area, and replaced it with a table with adjustable height and a stool, so I can work standing or sitting. It is working very well for me.

Beyond the chair on the floor is my tool box, and above that are two trays that are designed to fix onto the table legs and rotate out of the way and for easy access when you need stuff. Table, chair and trays were bought at Ikea which I braved for the first time for this project.

This is a small room (just over 3 x 2 metres = 10 x 6.5 feet) but has a built in wardrobe with 4 large drawers. One of the drawers is used for storing SOME of the paper I have, and I'm using all the area above the drawers and on the upper shelf for my craft things.

My craft room is the mirror image of the Man Who Cooks' study on the other side of the wall with the wardrobe in it, and was designed by the original owners to allow the wall to be removed to make one larger room. However, dear readers, I am now reluctant to even entertain such an idea, as I'm SO happy with this room.

This is a new acquisition, a trimmer I got on sale this week. Not only does it cut in a straight line, but also a wavy line and does perforations. I've always wanted to be able to do that so I can make notebooks with pages that can easily be removed. It also has a scoring wheel to make crisp folds. It's brilliant! But can anyone tell me what those arcs are for? I'm sure they're meant to do something useful.

Very nice Val. I won't show you what our office looks like as I also share it with my wife's craft gear.

While the layout is similar to yours you wouldn't be able to discern that under all the 'stuff' that resides in here.

Must be nice to have your own space again though.

Hi Val, you sure have managed to fit a lot of "stuff" into a small space here.

Well, Val, you have certainly staked out your territory well. Doesn't that feel good? And you appear to have maximised your space well. The table you can work at standing or sitting sounds wonderful. I wish you a happy, relaxing and productive time in your ...craft room, studio, creative space.

Val,

Your room looks brilliant... I am peagreen with envy... My craft 'room' is a continually growing number of large boxes and jars... One day when I am...well, you know one day when!!!! We too have a paper cutter gismo and we can probably do more with it than we do - Erin finds it most useful... I visited Lincraft in the city and they are undergoing a 'transformation' and from what I could see papercrafts were getting quite a space... Wouldn't visit yet though place is a shambles.... In answer to your email my crafting has come to a standstill except for E's scarf which I am knitting furiously and earnestly so she can wear it to school next week...

Have fun in and with your room...

Lookin' goooood!

Are you always so tidy, Val, or is this only tidy now because it's a newly-designated area? (because if you're really that tidy, you're putting me to shame!)

That's an impressive craft room. Now show us pics when it's all messy (even the scissors are in line!). And I'm impressed with the image on your computer - I just that picture on my work laptop as the background. Great minds and all that...

Pretend I put *put* in the above comment (I'm all embarrassed now).

Oh, Val, I love your craft room / study ... wish I had the room for one (well, I do have a spare room, but it is chockers full of stuff ... there is no room for me in there LOL).
Love the trimmer, too ... not sure what the curves are for, either !!
Take care, Meow
PS. Will have to catch up again soon. I'm making those Blogger Song CDs, so will have one ready to give you, soon.

Gee, my comment on my own blog doesn't appear. Here goes again, re tidiness: NO, I'm NOT usually that tidy, but I had just organised and rationalised all the stuff to fit in so it's still relatively tidy. It will get messy soon enough.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, very nice but what I want to see is a photo of the red and black kimono that I see peaking out so seductively there next to the wardrobe. [ No seriously it IS a very spiffy craft room and far far too tidy. Get in there and mess it up a bit , will you please ? ]
and as it was minus 3 last night here in Castlemaine I seriously hope the two of you survived in the shed okay.

Great craft room Val. You look so nicely organized! We're about to redo our office space, so that should be a fun venture for us ;)
(I like it when it's done, but I don't enjoy the mess while it's torn apart)

Wow, I'm loving your fab new craft room. It certainly is a treat to have the space and designated room to be able to create without having to worry about having to tidy up straight after yourself.
I've actually got a trimmer too, which is still unused in its box...don't think it's got a curvey cutter though. I might just have to go and have a look..LOL

You've organized your new craft space very well Val. I can see you spending many happy hours there, creating beautiful objects.
That's a neat cutter.

WOw...what a wonderfully organized craft room...I'm impressed and a little jealous! I'd like a little space to call my own at our house if only we had a few extra square feet.
