A quiet read in the winter sun

Warmth coming in through the north facing windows, catching the sun's rays as it sits low in the sky, warming my feet and legs as I sit and read, until I've finished the book, not needing to wait until evening when I'm tired. A pot of tea on the table (bush tea, reminding me of the wonderful No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series), time to drink a pot of tea if I want to.

What was I reading? That's almost beside the point today, but just for the record, Alex Miller's Prochownik's Dream, about an artist trying to identify himself in his art and in terms of his relationships with family and personal and professional friends.

Ginny & I also enjoy the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency stories, but Stephen King's Desperation is my favorite book for now.

What is bush tea? You have certainly shown some wonderful examples on how to enjoy retirement!

Bush tea? Info from the packet: bush tea is known as rooibos tea, grown in the mountains of South Africa. It's herbal and caffeine free and contains antioxidants. I get one with spices added (cinnamon, cloves, ginger and cardamom) so the aroma is wonderful, even before you make the tea.

I hope I keep coming up with leisure activities, adventures etc that will be of interest to you all!

Hi val
Sitting in the sun reading sounds great to me at the moment, as I have a cold or allergies or both !!

Bush tea? Sounds like a nice brew !!

Best wishes

Finished the book?
Tea gone cold?

Ah well, plenty more books so just boil the kettle again -- and continue the work of retirement.

Sounds you had a lovely moment reading and drinking a cup of tea!

What luxury Val, to sit in the sun and read! It's one of my very favorite passtimes. I intend to do that on our front porch or back patio when I get my garden work caught up.
Hubby and I had a great day working outside in the sunshine today. How wonderful to finally be able to do that...now that the rain has gone away...at least for a while. I still have lots of things to plant, and must move some perennials in order to do this.
Your living room is so light and sunny...just beautiful!
