Tried n true kitchen gadget

Guess what's hidden behind this cabinet door...

Well, there's a Kenwood Chef which we've had since the 70s, but that's not the subject of this post.

It's the wonderful slide away shelf that allows me to lift up the Kenwood into just the right height, and afterwards store it back out of the way. The Man Who Cooks bought this in the U.S. just before we were about to leave for Australia. It has been installed in the 3 houses we've lived in over the years, and I wouldn't be without it!

Oh, and the Kenwood Chef is a winner too.

Hi Val ~~ Thanks for comments. I find the jokes in books, from e-mails sent by friends. We have had a lovely rain in Shepparton all day yesterday and more today. Nice gentle rain, over 1 and l/2 inches. I am presently watching Carlton & Western Bulldogs on Fox Footy, and guess I will get more of the same results. Hope springs eternal !!! I never ge to see live matches these days.
Take care, Merle.

Hi Val, have seen you around a bit "Turning sixty", "Heronsnest" etc. Merle from Shepparton that you mentioned is my sister, so yes. I did know that she posts some good jokes.

Antique?! Hadn't thought of that, but it could be.

The Kenwood Chef is a do-everything kitchen machine. In addition to being a mixer, it also has attachments for breadmaking (dough hook), sausage maker and blender. Sorry if you thought it was some hunky looking guy lurking in the cabinet just waiting for hubby to leave for the office for the day!

So, Peter and Merle are brother and sister. What an lively family!

Oh Val, I love that pull out shelf idea ... it's wonderful. The Kenwood Chef is great, too. Wish I had one of them, instead of the new-fangled things now. Nothing new lasts as well as all the older stuff used to. What a throw away world we live in now ... shame !! (Gosh, the "new-fangled" term makes me sound old, doesn't it ... I'm only 41 !!!)
Hope you are having a wonderful week.
Take care, Meow

oh Val! ::sobs::

I LOST my kenwood chef when I sold it because it was too heavy to bring over from New Zealand when I came home 22 years ago! I have NEVER managed to find a replacement that came anywhere near it ... I still miss it.

Della,

How sad! They are heavy too, aren’t they, but also heavy duty. I would probably buy another Kenwood Chef if I had to replace this one (they are still sold, aren’t they?), but you never know long the new ones are going to last. I had a fabulous Hoover washing machine for 14 years, which we had when we had two kids in nappies, so obviously I got a Hoover the next time. It wasn’t a patch on the old one, of course.

What an ingenius contraption! Good on TMWC for having the foresight to see what a valuable addition to the kitchen that would be! We have a Kitchen Aid, which is wonderful, but doesn't do as much as the Kenwood Chef. It has a dough hook though. And it's VERY heavy!
Darn, I was looking forward to seeing that hunky looking guy lurking in the cabinet :)
