It was a beautiful day, 27 degrees, and we decided to go for a walk along the Yarra River a short drive from where we live. The goal was to walk to Heide, the Museum of Modern Art which is in the middle of parklands, and have lunch at the cafe there before walking back to where we parked the car. Unfortunately the museum and cafe were closed for renovations. Time for Plan B! A slight detour on the way back would bring us to Bamboo Terrace, in time for Sunday Yum Cha, and that's what we did. Hardly had time to unfold our napkins and the first trolley of goodies was rolled up to our table just before our cold beers arrived. Bliss!
At Heide we did have a stroll around the gardens, and rested in this intriguing gazebo.

Sounds like a lovely way to spend your last day of leave. I feel a bit envious of you being able to take walks along the river; still, we do have lakes to walk around.
I think it must be years since I last had Yum Cha - I must keep that in mind.
I hope tomorrow's work is not too arduous - just ease back into it gently, Val.
Hi Val
I discovered your blog via a comment on Wendy's.
So Hello to another Melbournian.
I have written poetry about Melbourne, the Yarra and that drive home from Burke Steet.
Looks like you enjoy the bush along with your cats and a spider?
PLease feel free to visit my blog should it be of interest
Best wishes
Alice, I survived the first day, now am bit tired... duh
Lindsay, I will most certainly visit your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine.
Congrats on being back, Val. But what's Yum Cha please?
I wondered if people would know about that... You may know it as dim sum. It's a Chinese restaurant thing, where you order steamed and fried things brought around on trolleys. The waiters keep a running account of things on an order slip kept on your table. You just look and point. Danger: everything looks good!
Not to worry, the museum reopens in early April, and we'll get to see everything in mid autumn.
I know what you mean about reading the bios of those artists/patrons. Their lives make tv soap operas look very tame indeed!
Sounds like a great day together.
I had dim sum for the first (and only) time while visiting Oz in 2003. My brother and sister-in-law took me for a Chinese feed in Newcastle, NSW. I loved the dim sum...yum!! My husband doesn't eat Chinese food so I rarely get to eat it.
I hope you're enjoying being back at work.
For all of you worrying about my first week back at work ;} I have survived the first 2 days, had my usual Wednesday off, now just 2 days until the weekend. I don't' really think like that though - I have a very stimulating job, if at times TOO stimulating.
